About the Headliner

Martin Mandela Morrow is originally from Birmingham, AL where he started doing stand-up, improv, and belonged to an award winning sketch/stand-up hybrid “Tubbi and Martin” with his childhood friend Joshua “Tubbi” Mays. The Auburn University grad has performed in clubs, colleges, and festivals all over the world including Toronto, Shanghai, and Cape Town and has worked with some of the top names in comedy including Tim Allen, Eric Andre, Neal Brennan, Bobby Cannavale, Gabriel Iglesias, Jamie Kennedy, Nick Kroll, John Mulaney, Tig Notaro, Amy Schumer, and Katt Williams.

A recent resident of Los Angeles, Martin is an alumnus of The Second City Mainstage in Chicago appearing in the 105th Mainstage revue "The Winner...Of Our Discontent" and a former ensemble cast member on the Second City Touring Company. He was also cast in Second City’s Game Night, AfroFuturism, and Second City’s Sunday, Bloody Mary Sunday and has performed in several shows with Second City as a part of their Outreach & Diversity ensemble in addition to being a part of the 2015 Second City/NBC Bob Curry Fellowship program, Second City PUMA scholarship recipient and graduate of The Conservatory. He also wrote and produced several videos for The Second City Network with SNL star, Chris Redd.

During his time in Chicago, Morrow was a producer for one of the highest acclaimed comedy shows in the country, Comedians You Should Know and was a season 13 cast member of the longest running independent comedy showcase, The Lincoln Lodge and also performed with 3Peat at iO and Potential Boyfriends at MCL. He’s made additional appearances on Keith and the Girl Podcast, Mancow in the Morning, Just a Tip Podcast with Megan Batoon, Put Your Hands Together, You & Me This Morning, Red Eye Chicago, Craftsman Radio, The Light Tent Project Podcast, Everything is Alive Podcast, and the Handsome Naked album “Fully Clothed”. Martin currently performs improv with the award winning Harry Potter themed improv troupe, The Show That Shall Not Be Named.

He has been featured on Adult Swim’s Tim and Eric’s Game Show, Amazon Prime’s Inside Jokes with Asif Ali, Collegehumor’s Hot Date, Comedy Central's Why? with Hannibal Buress, The Huffington Post, Hulu’s Coming to the Stage, WCIU's One Night Stand Up, Fox’s Laughs, Windy City Live, Esquire TV, the NFL Network, Audible, Freeform, a print ad for Skittles and the NFL, and the 9th season of NBC’s Last Comic Standing. He was named one of 2018’s Top Comedians of Diversity by Good Deed’s, the New City Stage Top 50 players of 2016 and one of the top up-and-coming comedians in the country by Splitsider in 2015. In 2020, Martin appeared in various ads for Jimmy Kimmel Live, T-Mobile, Freeform, and Progessive generating millions of views and shares. Morrow was also featured in the critically acclaimed short film, Something About Bubbles, which garnered him Best Ensemble wins for the New York Film Awards, Independent Short Awards, and Vegas Movie Awards. Martin also went viral in his portrayal of Lee in the KFC Lifetime movie, A Recipe for Seduction.

Outside of acting and comedy, Martin has become an accomplished writer with his work being published in the likes of The Chicago Tribune, Huffington Post, and The Richest. In early 2020 his Medium article, “Dear White Women” garnered hundreds of thousands of views and shares. He has also worked as a freelance social media copywriter for such brands as Walmart, Hulu, Pose of FX, the People’s Choice Awards, and PlayVS.

He was a finalist in the seventh season of the Impress These Apes comedy competition, and performed in the 2013 TBS Just For Laughs Comedy Festival, 2014 Green Gravel Comedy Festival, 2014 Bridgetown Comedy Festival, 2014 Hell Yes Fest, the 2015 LA Riot Fest, 2015 Out of Bounds Comedy Festival, 2015 Wrestle-Geekfest, the 2015, 2016, and 2017 NBC/Second City Breakout Comedy Festival, the 2015, 2016, and 2017 AV Club/Onion 26th Annual Comedy Festival, 2016 Tomorrow Never Knows Festival, 2016 High Plains Comedy Festival, and headlined the 2016 and 2017 Birmingham Comedy Festival, the 2017 Altercation Comedy Festival, the 2017 China International Comedy Festival, the 2018 Big Fire Festival, 2018 Hollywood Fringe Festival, 2018 Red Rocks Improv Festival, 2019 World Series of Comedy, and the 2018 and 2019 Hi-Desert Fringe Festival. In 2020, Martin became a content creator for Stereo and his debut comedy album “Magic of the City” topped the iTunes Comedy Charts.
